Show 3rd Ward girls hold Softball lead Girls softball in the Parowan Stake is still providing some exciting action for the fans with teams from all wards participating. On July 21st, Parowan 2nd Ward were short some players, so leaders and girls got ' together and had a "fun forall" garne against the Parowan 3rd Ward. Parowan 3rd is in first place at this time. All teams should be congratulated on their fine sportsmanship this year. The evening game on the 21st, Enoch played Summit in another exciting game that could have gone either way. Enoch overpowered the Summit team , however, by a 6 to 4 score. Enoch got 14 hits and six runs as compared to Summit Wards 8 hits and 4 runs. On July 28th Paragonah's team won over a surprised Enoch' team 13 to 8. Enoch has been one of the strongest ball teams and has improved steadily. Paragonah overpowered them however, in quite a startling upset. Each team played well. Parowan 1st and 2nd Wards were unable to get teams together so leaders and girls teamed up for the last game. This ends the regular season for Girls Softball and August 4th concludes the summer activities with a curiosity game between Enoch and Parowan 3rd at 5:30 p.m. The all-star game will be played at 7:00 p.m. After the game the sportsmanship and championship trophy's will be awarded and a party will be held for all girls and leaders. This year's all-star team has been chosen and is as follows: Diane Adams and Danette Davis, Parowan 1st Ward. Meliss Davis and Kristy Bess, Parowan 2nd. Lisa Stolk and Wendy Stubbs, Parowan 3rd. Beverly, Tammy and DeAnne Robinson, Paragonah. Anita Green, Cristie Morton and Jeanne Evans, Summit. Joy Scott and Lori Jones, Enoch, alternates are Jill Stubbs, Parowan 2nd and Michelle Bentley, Parowan 3rd. Stake leaders wish to express a special thanks to all the girls who have participated, along with the coaches and umpires who have helped make the program such a success. |
