Show Coleman leading in American LL Coleman, with two victories vic-tories during the week of play in the Cedar American Little League took a one-game one-game lead over Kiwanis as the last week of the first half of play gets underway. Standings through Friday night's action are: Coleman 5 1 Kiwanis 3 1 Carter's 3 3 Rotary 2 3 - Milne 2 .4 . Spilsbury& Graff. 1 4 Another big jump was made by Carter Brothers as they moved out of the cellar with a pair of victories during the week. For Coleman they got a big game out of Russum as they defeated Spilsbury and Graff 10-1. Russum was on the mound and he gave up only one hit and one run and in addition belted a three-run three-run homer in the first inning of play. It was Paris on the mound to give Coleman their 13-7 victory over Milne. Milne sent Gibson, Brown and LaVassuer to the mound to try and stop the Coleman bats. For Coleman it was a big second inning as they scored 12 runs on six hits. They put icing on the victory with another run in the third. Ca-ter's came up with a 11-8 win over Milne with Staple and Sellers on the mound for the win. On the mound for the losers were Gibson and LaVausser. Despite the loss the big defensive play of the game was an unassisted double play by Scott Gibson in the 5th frame. He nabbed a line drive and stepped on the base to double up the runner. Carter's scored 4 runs in the top of the sixth to actually come from behind and pick up the win. The other win for Carters came at the expense of-' Rotary 10-6. Again it was Staple and Sellers on mound. Bulloch suffered the loss. Carter's had a big second inning scoring six runs on four hits and converted mistakes into runs to pick up the win. In other action in the league Kiwanis handed Spilsbury and Graff a 13-5 setback. Cardon and Nakken were on the mound for Kiwanis. Heap and Evans for Spilsbury and Graff. Kiwanis was consistant with their scoring picking up 3 in the 1st, 3 in the second 4 in the 3rd and 3 in the 4th to compile 13 runs on just eight hits. Spilsbury and Graff collected 11 hits but came up with only 2 runs in the first and 3 in the third in the losing effort. I |
