Show Zion Park travel drops 20 Travel to Zion National Park totalled 115,230 visits for the month of May. This figure represents a 21 percent decrease as compared com-pared with May, 1976. Travel for the calendar year totals 264,835 visits, a decrease of approximately 12 percent as compared to the same period in 1976. The cool weather experienced during May this year could have been partially responsible for the decrease in visitation according to Superintendent Robert C. Heyder. Visitation during Memorial Day appeared to be normal. Campground use at Zion totalled 21,823 campers, a increase of approximately 16 percent as compared to the same month last year. |
