Show Carter Bros, take lead of American LL The showdown for the lead of the American Little League was held last week at the Kiwanis Ball Park. When the dust had settled the Carter Bros, team had firm possession of first place with Rotary Club and Spillsbury-Graff Spillsbury-Graff tied for second. Carter Bros, opened the weeks action on Monday against co-leader co-leader Spillsbury-Graff. Carters claimed a 16 to 6 victory behind the steady pitchingof Cory Nielson. Spillsbury-Graff led 4 to 2 until the third inning when Carter Bros, produced an 8 run rally. The game was then out of reach for the determined Spillsbury-Graff group. Carter Bros, went on to face the other co-leader, Rotary Club on Thursday. This time Shawn Widick handled Carter's pitching duties and his team emerged victorius by a score of 6 to 3 . Brad Rhodes assisted in the scoring by belting a home run in the 3rd inning. Rotary Club had earlier met an improved Milne Truck Line team on Tuesday but succeeded in blanking them 10 to 0. Rick Lunt pitched the winner and added a 3 run homer in the 4th inning. ' Milne rebounded from that defeat on Friday and squeaked past Kiwanis Club 11 to 10 in an exciting, closely matched first game. Kurt Higbee claimed the pitching victory and team mate Robert Bissetti hit his second home run of the season during the third inning. In other games played during the week, Coleman Company muscled past the Kiwanis Club on Wednesday by a score of 12 to 8. Jim Russom handled the pitching and Darren Marquardson hit a home run for Coleman. Coleman stumbled in the second game on Friday however, when Spillsbury-Graff blanked them 9 to 0. Doug Nelson powered a home run for Spillsbury-Graff in the first in-' ning to start the scoring and went on to claim the pitching vitory as well. Only three games remain to be played by each team during the remainder of the season. With the team standings being so tight, the season's wind up games could produce some exciting contests.
