"Fort Lewis is the .surprise of the '.conference so far, and Adams state is a scrambling type team which is very 1 difficult to beat at Alamosa.", t' SUSC whipped a pair of Rocky Mountain Athletic -. "We are a much better team than when we started the season. Our freshmen players are starting to come into their own, and our team play is improving." Peterson is particularly pleased with the recent play of Freshman Rosemary Jacklin, a 5-9 spiler from Pleasant Grove. Also performing per-forming well were freshman Kathy Dyches, 5-8 spiker from Erda (Cyprus High), and Theresa Versluis, a 5-9 spiker from Kearns (via College of Eastern Utah). Not so pleasing to Peterson is the injury to starter Chris Tea's shoulder. Tea- a 6-1 senior from Riverton, has been a regular for the past two seasons. A shoulder injury was aggrevated Friday, and Tea was unable to paly at all Saturday. "We don't know yet, whether or not she will be able to play this week. We'll just have to see how she responds to treatment. If we lose her, we lose quite a bit of up front strength." Both RMAC contests will be decided on a best three of five game basis. Prior to the Colorado trip, the Thunderbirds will host Ricks College Thursday at 3 p.m. in War Memorial Fieldhouse. Following the Colorado trip, SUSC will host CEU and UNLV in a pair of matches Tuesday, starting at 4 p.m. in War Memorial Fieldhouse. |
