Show Drama Class prepares "Sound of Music" By Diane Dalby The Drama Department is involved in many activities all year, but are especially busy this month. The biggest production of the year is now being prepared. "The Sound of music" tryouts were held January 8, and 9, with vocal auditions on the 10th. Ellen Wheeler will play Mariea and Dave Wright, Captain Von Trapp. The childrens roles will be filled by the following people. Gretl - Danielle Wheeler; Marta - Melissa Jones; Kurt - David Burbidge; Louisa -Marsha Kupfer; Fredrich Chris Wheeler; Liesl -Jennifer Farrish; Brigitta -Tambi Sorenson. Rolf is being played by drama student Mike Mit-chie. Mit-chie. The cast of 33 will be meeting at 5:30 a.m. and also after school to perfect this production. As director Richard Johnson says, "A production this popular and of this size needs a terrific amount of work to sell it to the audience." A dinner theatre was held on January 20th in the auditorium. People from 3 Drama classes combined efforts to present a spaghetti dinner and 3 one-act plays to people who attended. Participents will be awarded trophies and certificates. The Drama classes are currently studying makeup units which they will be able to use in "Sound of Music" productions. |
