Instead of bringing snacks from home, the students chose two children who purchased pur-chased the snacks for the group. This is done by the use of a sign-up chart so that each child had a turn in this activity. To start the store, Mrs. Topham Top-ham lent the group $5.00. Any good business needs financial backing. The children brought from home 25 cents per week. The change was kept in indi vidual banks, counted and re- j, corded on individual bank ac- i counts. 1 1 There was a central banker, . i the teacher. At the end of the ji school year the total amount i of money left in the central ji bank was $10.86. From this $5.00 was paid i back to Mrs. Topham, leaving i the amount of $5.85 for the i class to spend as it chose. i Two ideas were suggested: '! 1. to have a party. 1 ! 2. Take the money home. i The group voted to have a '! party and use the money left to buy ice-cream bars. This ji they did. i |
