Show Five-day Principals Workshop planned at Southern Utah State College in June "The Role of the Elementary School Principal" will be the theme of the Principal's Workshop Work-shop at Southern Utah State College June 14 through IS. Dr. Kent E. Myers, assistant dean of the SUSC School of Education Is workshop director. direc-tor. The five-day conference will be keynoted on June 14 by an address by Andy Mitchell, immediate im-mediate past president of the National Association of Elementary Ele-mentary School Principals. Other distinguished guest lecturers lec-turers will oe Dr. Walter D. Talbot, state superintendent of Public Instruction for the State of Utah, and G. Morris Rowley, coordinator of Elementary Ele-mentary Education for thel State School Office. ' Appearing In special panels and symposiums will be Dr. Clair Morris, superintendent of Iron County Schools; Dr. Daryl McCarty, executive sec retary of L'EA; Louis Jensen, principal of Jackling School; Robert Halliday, principal of James E. Mass School, and Sherman Carter, principal of Belknap Elementary School in Beaver. Four principal roles will receive re-ceive major studying during the workshop, according to Dr. Myers. They will include (1) Leadership and Management, (2) Community Relations, (3) Curriculum Development, and (I) Negotiations and Faculty Relations. Afternoon sessions will be devoted to "What's New" with special presentations hy publishers pub-lishers and innovator. A spe-l spe-l cial evening session will be I held at SUSC's College Ranch on Wednesday, June 16, with a steak fry and business meeting meet-ing conducted by the Utah Association As-sociation of Elementary School Principals. |
