Show ParowanOams take over lead in j ! Glass A division of Region Eight weeks for the Rams; Saturday night they traveled to Panama for a game with Lincoln Co. High, and took the measure of that team by a 67 to CA score after a close hard fought game. Those who traveled to the Nevada town for the game said it was one of the best games of the year for the Rams and a very well played contest by both teams. The Parowan team held the lead all the way: 16 to 15 at the first quarter rest; 31 to 25 at halftime; 50 to 43 at the third quarter rest and 67 to 64 at the end. Statistics showed that Parowan Paro-wan shot 60 from the field 1o 50'c for Panaca. They had 20 points for 24 tries at the foul line, Decker 6 for 7, Adams 4 for 5, Burton 3 for 4, Dalley 2 for 2, Orton 3 for 4 and Chuck Bentley 2 for 2. Burton led the scoring with 23, Adams had 18, and Decker 12 in the game- LAST WEEK Parowan 52 Beaver 43 Milford 20 Enterprise 73 ' PRACTICE Parowan 67 Lincoln Co. 64 In a game that went about as we predicted last week, the Parowan High Rams of Coach Bill Farr, survived a fourth quarter press by Coach Lynn Parson's Beavers last Friday night, and by so doing do-ing took over the undisputed lead in the division, for at least one week; The game was played in the Parowan gvm which was filled to capacity with followers of both teams, about as many Beaver and Minersville residents as there were Parowan, Paragonah and Summit followers of the rams. They came expecting a clos:? exciting ball game and they were rewarded for the full 32 minutes of play. The Parowan team took an early lead and held it by a fairly good margin mar-gin through most of the game. They were out on lead by 12 to 8 as the first quarter ended held at 10 point, 27 to 17 lead at halftime and were ahead 1 45 to 34 as, the third quarter ended. At this time Persons sent his men into a full-court press, a style of play Beaver has always al-ways been rather good at, and by the time the Rams gathered gath-ered themselves together the lead had dwindled to nothing, in fact the two teams were tied, with less than two minutes min-utes on the clock. 1 But at this point the Rams regained themselves and with less than half a minute on the clock Burton was fouled and made one of two after a very cool night at the foul line and Ken Adams came up with a field goal and a foul shot, while keeping the Beavers at bay. The final points came to the Rams with 2 seconds lelt on the clock, not enough for the Beavers to come back and the game was over. During the wild last quar- ter, Gurr and Chandler Beaver players fouled out of the game to aid the Rams. Parowan lostf Decker and Orton via the same route but the two Bentleys boys came in, Craig and Chuck came on and filled in very well for the home team doing ! very well on defense and getting get-ting needed points The game was very well officiated of-ficiated but the Rams were caught with too many fouls while not getting one foul try in the first quarter while the .Beavers got in the one and 1 one by then. Then when we got the pitches we couldn't make them while Beaver did very well, especially in - the late stages of the game which kept them in the ball game. The Rams outscored the Beavers Bea-vers from the field 21 to 17. The box and quarter scores really tells the tale. They are as follows. PAROWAN: j I Adams 6 5 5 17 !
