Show Street issues resolved in action by Cedar City Council Cedar City Council was petitioned pe-titioned to close one street and open up parking on anothei at their regular meeting held Thursday evening. Residents of the College Av. enue Apartments on tue corner corn-er of 100 .West and College Avenue attended the council meeting and petitioned the council to reconsider action that was taken during the holiday to close College Avenue Av-enue to parking between 100 and 200 West streets. The street was closed to parking on both the north and south side during the holiday period, at the request of property pro-perty owners in the area. Following the petition by the students, who occupy the apartment units, a portion of the street was reopened for f larking, with notification that he entire street would again be 'closed as of September 1, 1972. Reopened for parking was a portion of the north side of the street from 100 West, west to include the College Avenue apartments and property owned own-ed by Mrs. Parson U. Webster. On the south side the street was reopened for parking from 100 West west to include property owned by Cliff Williams. Wil-liams. The remainder of the block will continue to be posted "no parking," Mayor Loren Wnetten indi cated that the change was a-greed a-greed upon through August to allow owners of the apartment building to arrange for additional addi-tional off-street parking for their patrons. The council was further petitioned pe-titioned to close 450 West Street from Center Street north to Harding Avenue. The net' tion was entered by Iron County Coun-ty School District to facilitate the utilization of their combined com-bined properties on both the east anrt west side of street. Following the hearing on the matter the city agree t to close the street adjacent to property owned by the Dis trlct but to leave the street open on either end to accomodate accomo-date private property owners in the area. Another delegation met with the council with a peti tion requesting the city to pro vide police protection at thr intersection of 300 West an' 200 North Street during th" primary hours of the Ceda Third and Cedar Fourth Ward of the LDS Church. The request re-quest would require protection each Wednesday and Thur day between the hours of 4 and 5:15 p.m. to assist chiV ren in crossing the busy 20 North Street.
