Chief Kirkham will leave next week for his new assign-1 ment with the Yavapai Coun- 1 ty Sheriff's Department head-1 quarters in Prescott. He will join a department of 35 personnel. C. A. Kirkham, Cedar City Chief of Police, tendered his resignation before the Ceda-City Ceda-City Council at their meeting Thursday evening. The resignation was accepted accept-ed by the council, effective February 1, according to May-qo May-qo Loren A. Whetten. In addition to accepting the resignation of the Chief of Police Po-lice the Council also accepted the appointment of Arthur Stewart to the Police Department Depart-ment to fill the vacancy created creat-ed when Jerry Sm'.th left the department to join the U. S. Marshall's staff in Salt Lake City. Stewart is a graduate of the Utah Police Academy and has been a member of the police fcrce in M'lfird f r two vears. The council further indicated indicat-ed that they are currently accepting ac-cepting applications for the ' position of Chief of Police and |
