Show ROLLO-glyohics , KLIEN ROLLO As a result we are making elforts to obtain some of this information on a regular basis. bas-is. You will find this week near our front page masthead a record of the high and low temperatures and precipitation precipita-tion for each day of the past week. Some of the other statistics are a little more difficult to obtain and we feel must be, done on an all or not at all) basis if it is to be effective. For instance if we are to list actions taken in court it would be unconsistant if we did not list them all. Judge Haldow E. Christensen is most cooperative coopera-tive but points out that he handles upwards of 20 cases on some days and the report could become quite cumbersome. cumber-some. We hope that we can work it out, however. Vital statistics, on the other oth-er hand we hope to incorporate incorpor-ate on a monthly basis to include in-clude marriages and divorces. Currently we are running a weekly column on births at the Valley View Medical Center. Other areas of inquiry include in-clude arrests and fire calls. The arrests appear to be Impractical Im-practical but we will, in co- I operation with the Cedar City Volunteer Fire Department try to develop a report on fire , calls on a weekly basis, when I applicable. Haw you had one of those weeks? You know, one that never goi's the way you would like, or that you don't accom-i'ss accom-i'ss nearly what vou set out to do? vvell that's the week that was for me last week and as a result I never did get around writing a column but that's just one of the things I didn't get done. Since then I've had some new features go across the desk that were most interest-ng. interest-ng. For Instance did you know -hat if you ordered fish for Jinner tonight, chances are that you are more reserved han your meat-eating companion. com-panion. Now isn't that inter-asting? inter-asting? The article, taken from a eport in Coronet magazine, Toes on to make these points: Men who are extra fond of tarchy foods such as bread ind potatoes tend to be adverse ad-verse to solving problems i making judgments, and tend to be on the complacent com-placent side; Big meat -eaters possess such dominent qualities quali-ties and traits as enthusiasm, socialility and a zest for ac- tion which makes them good leaders, salesmen, army officers offic-ers and politicians, 'People with a lively sense of humor and a fondness for jokes tend to gravitate more to the dessert des-sert portion of the meal. Looks like I'd better take up dessert eating. Oh yes, one last point, if your a great fan of products such as milk and ice cream with your meals these people say that you suffer from feelings of insecurity with a desire to retreat to childhood. It's marvelous the way things change, but sometime we just don't realize how fast those changes are coming about. It was interesting to note in last week's issue that Mrs. Iris Corry, retiring as food supervisor of the Iron County School District began her career In that field just 20 years ago. The unusual thing about this is that in 1919 all of the public schools of the district were housed in the area now used bv the Cedar Junior High School. Since then we have expanded to Include a multi-million dollar high school and three separate elementary ele-mentary buildings and are now working toward the development de-velopment of new facilities for the Junior High. We have been getting some requests of late for more statistical sta-tistical information relative to the area and its people. Many out of towners have requested re-quested more specific information inform-ation on weather conditions, temperatures, moisture, etc. while on the local level there 1 has been indication of wide ( interest in such matters as a more complete listing of vita statistics such as marriages, divorces, plus court cases. |
