Show Color Country Winter Classic to take late February Spotlight The Color Country Winter Classic. February 20-28 is entering en-tering its second successful year. The Classic is being co-sponsored co-sponsored again this year by the Cedar City Chamber of Commerce and Southern Utah State College, It is however, a cooperative effort of the entire community communi-ty including all the Civic Clubs; various Cedar City and Brianhead businesses; Brianhead Corporation; Government Gov-ernment agencies; radio and newspaper people; various sports clubs in the area; and the motel association. Wide involvement The following community groups and people are involved involv-ed in work on the various subcommittees sub-committees for the Winter Rollo, Forrest Hunter, Earl Hansen, Phil Johnson, Ken neth Benson. Charles Bryan; Skiing Events, Corky Cavton, Richard Stauber, Bill Thompson, Thomp-son, George Hartinraier, Phil Johnson; Parade, Jaycees,. Bob Vanover, Frank Nichols; Brianhead Facilities, Brian-head Brian-head staff; Skating Events at Brianhead and Woods Ranch. Kiwanis, Claud0 Brazell, Earl Hansen, Bob Williams, Joe Creikbaumer; Transportation and Parking, Lions, Horace Andrews, Reed Thompson, Tom Brown, Skip Anderson; Southern Utah State Events. Ken Benson, Phil Johnson. Committee assignments These committees are responsible re-sponsible for the week's act- ivitles under the general chairmanship of Dr. McRay Cloward. Beginning Saturday February Febru-ary 20 at Brianhead, ski and snow mobile events will open the week's activities. On Sunday, February 21, ski and ice skating demonstrations demon-strations will be featured a-gain a-gain at Brianhead, along with snowmobile races open for public viewing. A Winter Classic Parade down Cedar City's mainstreet will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Monday the 22. Later that evening ev-ening at the Winter Classic. Queens Pageant on the SUSC Campus, a Snow Queen will be chosen to reign over the week's activities. Tuesday, February 23, will be a special day for ice skating skat-ing both at Brianhead and Woods Ranch. Wednesday activities The SUSC A'Capella Choir will present a concert on the SUSC Campus. Wednesday i evening will also be the evening even-ing to be at Branhead for special Bavarian fun and entertainment en-tertainment culminating in torch run down the ski slopes. A major musical concert will be the feature on Thursday Thurs-day at SUSG along with snow sculpturing and awarding of prizes from the retail merchants mer-chants drawing from numbers on the Winter Classic buttons. - The action will switch to Brianhead on Friday for skiing ski-ing events and evening entertainment. enter-tainment. . Mr. Alf Engen will officially open and dedicate a run named nam-ed in his honor on Saturday the 27th. Ski races will be hold on this day also. That evening a Snow Ball will be held on , the SUSC ; Campus. More skiing and snowmobil- ing events will take place at Brianhead on Sunday to culminate cul-minate the week's events.
