Show Upsets mark play in Glass "B" ranks of basketball play As a result of one big upset and one mild one, the team standings in the Class B. Division Di-vision of Region Eight got a rather unexpected shuffling in last Friday night's games. As a result Kanab came up into a tie for first place with Enterprise En-terprise by winning from the Wolves by a 59 to 54 score. And Beaver dropped to third by losing to Milford in the biggest upset in division' play this year, with the Tigers getting get-ting the win by a 57 to 51 score. While cautious in picking either the Wolves or the Cowboys, Cow-boys, we did say that Enterprise Enter-prise should be the logical pick but that the Cowboys could win with the home floor advantage, and this was probably the difference. But we really gave the Beaver Co. game at Beaver to the home team barring a big upset. It j was! I For the Tigers to go over to Beaver and win in a hostile hos-tile gym in front of a hostile crowd, was quite a feat and shows that the Tigers are a better ball team than they are rated to be. It may be that they were ready and Beaver, was looking too far ahead Any way the standing are now as follows: Enterprise 3 1 .750 Kanab 3 1 ' .750 Beaver 2 2 .500 Parowan 1 3 .230' Milford 1 3 .250 The Parowan Rams, with a bye for the final round of play in the first haL', traveled to Fillmore to do battle with the Millard Eagles and Richard Rich-ard George, and took a 53 to 39 trimming, against one of the class A leaders of Region Eight. Against Millard tho Rams encountered too much Richard Rich-ard George, who came up with 25 points and ruled the bankboards as well. Parowan did quite well for the first 16 minutes ol play and was i only flown by a 23 t 20 score I at half time. The Ea.'le brr.ik- away tdtne in tiie third period per-iod a they iclltd out ahead by 45 to 32. Coach Farr used sort of a platoon system to give his entire squad some playing time and the scoring was distributed dis-tributed as follows: Rick Topham Top-ham got 9, Gaylen Gurr, 4; Rex Orton 10, Brown 8, Pendleton Pen-dleton 5 and Adams 3. The Ram JV squad came up with another fine performance, perform-ance, winning by a 39 to 29 score, with the ninth graders playing a good share of the second half. In the second round of play in the Class B ranks of our region, the Rams of Coach Bill Farr, get their second crack at the strong Enterprise Enter-prise team, now sharing the lead with Kanab. This time it will be on the Parowan floor this Friday night, with game time 8 o'clock. That same night the MiT ford Tigers will be at Kanab for a game with the Cowboys. Eeavcr gets the bye to lick its wounds from last Friday's encounter. en-counter. We ought to keep still, but it looks like the Parowan ' Rams and Milford Tigers will have to come up with their best endeavors of the season, Enterprise gave the Rams a good beating the first time around, at Enterprise, and although al-though the home floor will be in Parovvan's favor, the visiting visit-ing Wolves will be cevr with blood in their eyes after the loss to the Cowboys last week, with a dt termination to get back on top. Milford will have to do a rejK'at of last week's iwrformance to upset the Cowboys Cow-boys on their own floor. But the two bottom teams also have an incentive to come up iwith wins. They are tied for fifth place now and both will be trying to rjtt out tf that Cillax. |
