Show j School Board delays ! decision on j new coach at Cedar High j ! Candidates for the head j football coaching position at Cedar High School were interviewed inter-viewed by the Iron County School Board at its meeting Monday. j Three candidates appeared ; before the Board for final selection, se-lection, however, final decis-i decis-i ion was delayed pending the availability of all board mem- bers. Ken Knight of the board was unavailable at Monday's meeting. Superintendent Clair Morris indicated that selection and notification will be made sometime this week. To appoint auditors The board in other action considered the assignment of an audit firm for the coming fiscal year and interviewed Garn Huskinson representing the Cedar City firm of Giles and Huskinson. No decision was reached. Also the board was informed inform-ed the representatives of the State Department of Education, Educa-tion, Allen Bauer and Jewel Bindrup, would visit the district dis-trict to study several special programs. A progress report was heard concerning facility improvements improve-ments currently underway. It was reported that the heating plant improvement at the Cedar Junior High School girls gymnasium was nearly completed com-pleted and was being operated successfully; the ventilation system at the North Elementary Elemen-tary Pod area is now underway under-way and information relative to the refurbishing of the administration ad-ministration area of the District. Dis-trict. Approve bus purchase Specifications for a new 72 passenger bus were approved by the board and authorization authoriza-tion given for the calling of bids. Bids for the unit will be opened at the February board meeting, with delivery in early ear-ly summer to allow, funding from the 1971-72 fiscal ibudget. Approval was granted by the board for the attendance of Carla Hulet, clerk and Delos Dalton at the Annual School Business Officials workshop to be held at Brigham Young University in Provo. A letter from Horace Rose, executive secretary of the Utah High School Activities Association was read complimenting compli-menting Parowan High School on their sportsmanlike conduct con-duct and available facilities at a recent athletic contest. The board also reviewed results of the recent school census, particularly as it applies ap-plies to pre-school children and possible future enrollment enroll-ment figures. |
