Show CSU loses berth in Nfllfi tourney not play a part in the tournament tourna-ment selection, as was indicated indi-cated in some quarters over the week end. Had Pinamonti been declared declar-ed ineligible CSU would probably pro-bably have had to forfeit all of their games this season, the director pointed out. College of Southern Utah's bid for a berth in the District 7 basketball playoffs of the National Association of Intercollegiate Inter-collegiate Athletics (NAIA), was shattered over the week end when Adams State College Col-lege of Colorado won a pair of victories on the road and were selected to enter the tournament tourna-ment competition. Going ino the week end of play both CSU and Adams State were rated identically at 08.6 in the Carr rating system which was used for the basis of selection to the District tournament. The Carr system weighs certain cer-tain factors in each game and gives more credit points for games won on the road than for games won at home. With CSU playing at home on the final week end and Adams State on the road, outcomes of those games were the determining deter-mining factor in the selection. Adams State and CSU both won two games over the week end but Adams State got the tournament nod on the basis of their games being won on the road which upped their Carr rating above that of CSU. Had Adams State dropped one of their two games the invitation invita-tion would have been offered to CSU, according to athletic director Bruce Osborne. A question had also been raised on Dave Pinamonti's eligibility to participate, Osborne Os-borne stated, but photostats of his scholastic record had been studied by the league and by NAIA and he was determined de-termined to be eligible before the final selection was made.
