The exhibit was open for only three days, because the exhibit room was needed for other purposes, but well over 250 people visited the show. The Amateur Art Exhibit held at the Cedar Junior High School last week end as a preliminary pre-liminary to the annual Spring Art Exhibit proved highly successful and should prove to be an encouraging start for an annual amateur exhibit. ex-hibit. A total of 71 artists from the Southern Utah area, exhibited 107 paintings, oils and water-colors, water-colors, of a wide variety, indicating in-dicating that many people of the area, young people and adults alike, are taking a keen interest in art work. Ten Cedar City adults ey-hibited ey-hibited 17 paintings, and 25 Cedar City young people from Junior High through College exhibited 34 paints. Ten Cedar City adults exhibited ex-hibited 18 paints, 12 adults from Milford exhibited 13 paintings, six Kanab and Or-derville Or-derville adults nine paintings, four Parowan residents, two adults and two youths, exhibited exhib-ited eight paintings, three Beaver adults had four paintings paint-ings in the exhibt, and threce paintings came from Kanar-raville Kanar-raville and one from Las Vegas. Professional artists acted as judges for the show and selected select-ed a painting by Davlvd Jones, a College of Southern Utah Student, as the best in the show.
