Show Funeral rites honor memory of Vietnam War victim With the Third Ward church filled to capacity, with rela-tives rela-tives and friends, funeral services ser-vices were held last Wednesday Wednes-day afternoon for Sgt. Cur-tess Cur-tess Walker, who was killed Saturday, Memorial Day in Vietnan. Sgt. Walker was the husband of Judy Dalton Walker Walk-er and son of Mr. and Mrs, Howard Walker, all of Paro-way. Paro-way. The services were conducted by Bishop Budd Munford of the First Ward, and Mrs. Vy-onne Vy-onne Chamberlain was at the organ for prelude and post-lude post-lude music. The prayer at the Walker home was offered by Jay Giaff. The invocation was by Gordon Farnsworth, the benediction was by Bishop Rupert Ru-pert S. Hulet, and the grave in the Parowan City cemetery was dedicated by John "S." Dalton, Dal-ton, Jr., father-in-law of the deceased. Speakers were Taylor Walker, Walk-er, an uncle of Curtess, and Bruce Matheson, with closing remarks by Bishop Munford. Musical numbers were, a vocal duet "A Time For Us" by Ruth Jenson and Mary Ann Speirs, accompanied by Mary Lyman, and a vocal solo, "Sometime We'll Understand", by Veil E. Taylor, with Mrs. Chamberlain at the piano. Pallbearers were Robert Morgan, Jim Adams, Clarence Benson, Jr., Mike Walker, Gary Simkins and Bill Thompson Thomp-son Honorary pallbearers were military personnel from Dug-way Dug-way Proving grounds, who also al-so were in charge of the military" mili-tary" rites which were a part of the services. The profusion of beautiful flowers were in charge of Mrs. Wanda Benson with classmates class-mates and friends assisting. Family members and friends attending from out of twon, included Mr. and Mrs. Taylor Walker, Los Angeles; Mi', and Mrs. Ardell Walker, Las Vegas, Ve-gas, Mr. and Mrs. Jay Walker and son Gary of Orem. Mr. and Mrs. Robert McBride of Salt Lake City; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Morgan, Los Angeles; Juline Campbell of Colorado and Fim Berta of Las Vegas |
