Show j I 1 f j Coleman team wins first half honors in American Little League with 8 - 0 record TEAM STANDINGS Coleman 8 0 1.000 j Rotary 4 4 .500 Klwanls 4 4 .500 Spila-Graff 3 5 .375 Milne 3 5 .375 Carter Bros. 2 6 .250 Coleman walked off with the first half honors In the Cedar American Little League and promptly this week got off on a winning note for the second half. They defeated Milne 14 to 2 Monday night to open the second half of play. Spilsbury Graff also won their opening game in the second half Tuesday evening with a 18 to 8 victory over Carter Bras. Steve Stoker and Bret Smith were on the mound for the Coleman victory. Jeff Jensen and Mark Erickson suffered the loss for Milne. Lee Holmes was the big hitter of the evening ev-ening with four hits in four trips Including a home run and a double. Spilsbury buried Carter ! Brothers Tuesday night in the opening victory of the second half. Both teams made numerous num-erous mound changes in the course of the six Innings of play. To wrap up the first half of play last week Coleman defeated de-feated Spllsbury-Clralf by a score of 6-2 to remain undefeated. unde-feated. Lee Holmes was the winning pitcher and Steve Stoker belted a home run. Holmes collected 12 strikeouts and gave up only one hit. Rod. ney vVadsworth was the losing pitcher. Carter Bros, who opened the season with a victory ended the first half of play with their second victory with a win over Milne. Carter Bros, had moved to a 23-12 advantage advan-tage over Milne when the game was stopped owing to Milne sending a sixth pitcher to the mound cqntrary to the Little League rules. The game was called at that point and the victory awarded to Carter Bros. In the game hitting was prevelant as Dave Felix homered hom-ered for Carter Bros, and Mark Leavitt belted two home runs in a losing effort for Milne. In other action Ray Nelson pitched Rotary to a 14-4 win over Carter Bros, to place Rotary Ro-tary in a tie for second in the first half of play. Chris Wood came on to pitch the final inning for Rotary as they picked up 10 hits in scoring the victory. Carter's sent Dean Hunger, Dave Felix and Kevin Kev-in Jones to the mound. Kiwanis also stayed in a tie for second with a hard fought 14-13 win over Milne. Walker Melling and Leo Shep-pard Shep-pard were on the mound for the winners. Three of the Milne crew saw mound action and Mark Erickson homered in the contest. |
