Show Senior Little League program opens in Cedar City with 6 teams participating Utah Contsruction, Utah Parks and State Bank won their opening battles in the Cedar Senior Little League in action this week. The new program, initiated this year to succeed the Pony League, got underway Monday Mon-day evening. Senior Little League is played on a regulation regu-lation diamond and double headers are held each evening even-ing at the Municipal park. Senior Little League also incorporates three age groups including 13, 14 and 15 year old. Under the old Pony League program age restrictions restric-tions were for 13 and 14 year old boys on a medium sized diamond. In the opening game of the league Monday evening Utah Construction behind the pitching pitch-ing of Nolan Roberts, picked up a 10 to 5 victory over Southern Utah Mortuary. On the mound for the Mortuary crew were Steven Hafen, Brad Davis and Calvin Sorenson. Roberts limited Southern U-tah U-tah Mortuary to three hits and collected 12 strikeouts. He also al-so led the hitting for his team with two doubles. In the nightcap it was California Cali-fornia Pacific defeating Paro-wan Paro-wan Merchantile by a score of 11 to 2. Winning pitcher was Dale Flanigan who went all the way for the power crew. Chris Bentley and Tim Hyatt saw mound duty for the Par-owan Par-owan team. In ' action Tuesday it was Utah Parks behind the pitching pitch-ing of Kevin Cox, downing California Pacific by a score of 15 to 2. Clair Milne and Robert Shirts were on the mound for the losers. State Bank hroke away from a 8-8 deadlock to win an 18 to 8 victory over Parowan Lions. Dennis Alger, Brad Lambeth and Ronnie Adams all saw mound action for the winners. Adams also belted a double and a triple in the contest and Steve Gale had a pair of doubles. doub-les. Losing pitcher was Keith Rollins. State Bank scored their 18 runs on 11 hits. Parowan Paro-wan Lions collected seven hits in the seven inning contest. |
