They picked up a pair of victories vic-tories in last week's action to win the first half crown. They defeated Jones Motor at mid week 21-5 to wrap up the title then added frosting with a 11-8 win over Elks Friday Fri-day night. Against Jones Motor Mo-tor Robert Pete and E. J. Cor-ry Cor-ry were on the mound and Corry belted a homer in the contest. Jones sent three pitch, ers to the mound in the losing los-ing effort. Against Elks it was Mike St rat ton and Cony on the mound. Clint Bills was the losing pitcher and Kevin Schoppmann belted a first inning in-ning homer to give Elks an early lead, but it didn't hold up. Jaycees finished in second place and completed the first half of play with a 13-7 win over Arctic Circle. Jaycees had seven extra base hits including includ-ing two home runs by Daniel Schaak and one by Kevin Av-erett. Av-erett. Steve Hair and Averett shared mound duties. Black-ner Black-ner was the losing pitcher. Lions continued their winning win-ning ways to open the second half against their strongest rival, Jaycees. Jaycees took an early 4-0 lead, but Lions came back to gain the lead at 5-4 at the end of four innings of play. In the fifth Lions belted five hits and scored six runs to win going away 11-4. Corry was the winning pitcher going the distance. Averett was the loser. Elks Tuesday night started the second half in style with a 12-6 victory over Jones Motor. Mo-tor. Kerry Cox was the win- |
