Show Piosneer Pay celebrate planned will featuire parade asid program Pioneer Day Celebration 9:30 a. m. Parade Safeway north on Main Street, to the Cedar City Park. Immediately following parade: Patriotic program to be held at the Cedar First Ward and sponsored by the Sons and Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Immediately following parade: Concessions, games refreshments at the municipal park. 7:00 p. m. Women's Softball. City Park. Two all-star teams. . 8:00 p. m. "A Blue Ribbon Affair". To be held at the Cedar High School auditorium and sponsored by the MJA. 8:30 p. m. Men's Softball, City Park. Zion Photo vs. An all-star team. Cedar West Stake, under the direction of Bishops Willard Hamilton and R. C. Morris, will sponsor the Pioneer Day celebration in Cedar City Friday, Fri-day, July 24. All proceeds from the day's activities will be used for paving pav-ing the parking lot at the Ce-I Ce-I dar West Stake House. I The day's activities will got underway with a parade at 9:30 a. m. The parade route will, bo .from tne corner of Main .and ,400 South Streets the Safeway parking lot north along Main Street to the j City. Park. Parade entries will begin assembling at 8:30 a. m. at the parking lot. Senior citizens cit-izens and city dignitaries will be featured in the event. ! Floats will carry out the theme of "Our Chosen Land." Also included will be riding groups, bands and equipment. Prizes will be awarded for the three entries rated best, according ac-cording to Evelyn Jones, chairman chair-man of the parade activity. Immediately following the parade a program will be held at the Cedar First Ward Chapel under the direction of Frank Pettty and sponsored by the Sons and Daughtters of Utah Pioneers. j Utah , National Guard will serve as color guard for the program. Invocation will be of. fered by George W. Jones. A reading, "I am Your Flag," will be presented by Fern Hunter and a musical selection selec-tion will be presented by Harold Har-old Butcher. Nona BroWn will present "The Pioneers and the World's Most Unusual Flag." The DUP band will also provide pro-vide musical entertainment and the benediction will be given by H. P. Dotson. Also following the parade, concessions and activities will get underway at the municipal munici-pal park. Refreshments will also bo served including hamburgers, ham-burgers, hot dogs, soft drinks, and cotton candy. Some of the feature activities activ-ities will be pony rides, a dunking pond, races for the children, and a bake sale. Friday evening, a special presentation of "A Blue Ribbon Rib-bon Affair" will be presented at 8 o'clock in the Cedar High School Auditorium under the sponsorship of the Cedar West Stake MIA. Also Friday, two all-star Softball games will be held at the Cedar City baseball park. At 7 p. m., the Cedar Women's Softball Assn. will present an all-star game made up of women from Cedar, Min-ersvillo Min-ersvillo and Milford. At 8:30, the Men's Assn. will stage a feature game pitting the lea-gue lea-gue leading Zion Photo team against an all-star team made up of players from the other eight teams of the league. |
