Show LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Letter to the Editor: Dear Editor and friends at home: We received so many nice cards and letters at Christmas time, from so many of you at home, wishing Us well. We just wish we could write to each of you and tell you about our work here, and about this beautiful country of Ireland. For truly Ireland is one of the most beautiful spots we lrivo seen. Green, winter and summer. sum-mer. It can snow and when it melts tiie grass is still green. The trees lose their leaves, and the flowers die in the winter, win-ter, but not the grass and almost al-most every foot of land is covered cov-ered with grass. We have never nev-er seen such beautiful flowers, the roses bloom from June to December. The weather is cold, a cold that penetrates clear to the bone. We are standing it much better this year than last. We are working in Northern Ireland. Our Branch is in Cal-eraibe, Cal-eraibe, a city of about 14,000 people, with several resort towns close around. Portstew-art Portstew-art is V2 mile away. It was the only place we could get housing. hous-ing. It has about 400 in winter, ibut doubles in the summer when people come to the beach for their holidays. Our district takes in six towns within a radious of a-bout a-bout one hundred miles. So you see we do quite a bit of traveling. We have a car and Jim drives just like the rest of the Irish, on the wrong side of the road, squeezing between milk and bread trucks parked in the middle of the street and the cars going by on the other side. Our Branch here in Caler-oine Caler-oine has been growing quite rapidly, thanks to our hard working Elders. Nine new members in the last five months. Some really choice people. We have four Elders working in this Branch. At the present time we have Elder Gary Whitney working with us. We are surely enjoying him. We 'are proud to tell folks he is from our home town. In fact Cedar and Parowan are well represented here in the Irish mission. Besides Mr. and Mrs. Theron Ashcroft and ourselves, we have Elder Whitney Whit-ney and Elder Kendall Jensen from Cedar City and Elder Hu-let Hu-let and Elder Robinson of Parowan. We are really going to miss Pres. and Sister Ashcroft when they return home in the summer. sum-mer. They are doing a wonderful won-derful work here. We just hope and pray their health will hold up under all the responsibility re-sponsibility and problems they have. We do so enjoy the Iron County Record. No matter how busy we are when they come we have to take a little time out to catch up on the home town news. Thanks to all of you for your prayers and well wishes. We send our love.
