Loekhart, first half winner in the Colt League baseball program, pro-gram, has taken it on tile chin to open the second half of play, droppin;; to last place with the other three teams in a deadlock for the league lead. Every team suilered one loss during the week and with the exception of Loekhart each team also got into the win column. Team standings through Tuesday Tues-day evening were as follows: Cedar Crest 2 1 .C-CT Record 2 1 .(iG7 Arctic Circle -' 1 .007 Loekhart 0 3 .000 The week got underway with Arctic Circle defeating Iron County Coun-ty Record by a score of 7 to 3. Wade Roberts and David Jenson combined to allow only three hits to the Record crew. Dennis Marchant led the hitting attack for Arcic Circle wih a double and triple the only extra-base hits of the game. Cedar Crest came along the following fol-lowing evening and dumped Arctic Arc-tic Circle by a score of 15 to 7. The two teams battled on even terms through 4 innings with a 7 to 7 deadlock. In the fifth however, Cedar Crest broke the game wide open with eight runs on just four hits. Four walks aided the cause and Cedar Crest sent 12 batters to the plate in the frame. Dale Hatch picked up the mound victory. Iron County Record got in the win column Friday evening with a 10 to 5 win over Loekhart with Wayne Esplin getting the victory, allowing just four hits. He picked pick-ed up a home run and double to aid the cause at the plate. Gary Gulliford, who suffered the loss, also tripled in the contest as did Adams of the Record. Monday evening the Record went on a real scoring spree to defeat Cedar Crest by a 21 to 4 margin. David Meyers was the winning pitcher and extra base hits included triples by Meyers, and Dale Hatch of Cedar Crest, with doubles by Adams and Mc-Mullin Mc-Mullin of the Record. Tuesday Arctic Circle moved up into a three-way tie for first with an 8 to 3 win over the sinking sink-ing Loekhart team. Loekhart took a lead with two runs in the third frame but Cedar Crest made their move in the fourth with three tallies. tal-lies. They added one in the fifth and four in the top of the seventh sev-enth for the victory. Wade Roberts Ro-berts was the winning pitcher. Robyn Reid suffered the loss. |
