Show Snow Pack Remains Beyond Normal Date in Mountains Late storms and exteremly low temperatures over the past month has resulted In a continued contin-ued heavy snow pact in the Cedar Ce-dar City mountains. In a survey conducted by the Soil Conservation Service and the U. S. Forest Service, snow depths on all of the course were above averages usually found at the first of May rather than June. Normally there is no measurable measur-able snow at this time of year. At Cedar Breaks snow depth was measured at 59 inches with a water content of 21 Inches. Average Av-erage for this course for May 1 is just 19.2 inches of water. At Midway 58 inches of snow was found with 23 inches of wat-ter wat-ter compared to an average for a month ago of 21.4 inches of water. At Brain Head 57',2 Inches of snow was found with 22 inches of water. Webster Flat had 28 inches of snow with 10 inches of water and traces of snow were found at Yankee Meadows. The rain guage at Cedar Breaks haii tranncd three inches of water during the month. At Webster Flat the guage had 3.96 inches of water and at Yankee Meadow it was slightly lower at 2.73 inches in-ches of water. Highest precipitation was recorded re-corded at Long Flat above Newcastle New-castle Reservior where the rain guage had trapped 4.73 inches of water during the month. |
