Show FRIDAY. JANUARY 30 One-act Plays Readied for CSU Students The first Winter Quarter enter- tainment to be presented by the CSU Drama department will be a program of two short plays. Friday, Jan. 20. Two performances perform-ances will be put on. one at 4 p. m. for high school and junior! high school students, and anoth-j or at 8 p. m. fur townspeople and j d lege students. 1 The plays are Submerged." a ' tense drama about six men trapped trap-ped on the bottom of the ocean, in a submarine, and "The Pro 1 fessor Cots the Chair." a hilar-j ious situation comedy about a! professor who is the victim f a' plot between his secretary and his best friend. "Submerged" Is being directed by Mrs. Elaine Smithwick. instructor in-structor in English and speech. Included in the cast are Merlin Theobald. Delta as Brlce, the coward; Keith Hicks, Monroe, as the commander; Calvert Johnson, Monroe, as Nabb, the Cockney; Sanford Topham. Parowan, as Dunn, the lover; Ken Esplin, Cedar Ce-dar City, as Shaw, the dreamer, and GeraJd Matheson, Cedar City, as Jorgson, the bully. Mr. Top-ham Top-ham is in charge of scenery. In the second play, which Is directed by Prof. Kichard M. Rowley, Row-ley, are the following students: Clark Bonnow. Panaca. Nev.. as the professor; Jackie Winterrose, Cedar City, as his secretary; Calvert Cal-vert Johnson, as the Dean; Cor-rine Cor-rine Stevens. Mt. Carmel, as Diana; Di-ana; Warda Hirschi. Hurricane, as Gertrude, and Sanford Topham as the policeman. "The Professor Gets the Chair" is an original play, being produced produc-ed for the first time. Other offerings for the winter quarter will Include another evening of one-act plays February Febru-ary S, which wi.'l include the prize-winnig drama "So Wonderful Wonder-ful In While," "The Moonshiner" and a comedy routine nu Tiber. The three-act play for winter quarter will be "Night Must Fall." one of the great suspense thrillers of all time. Product ion .date for this play is March 2( and 3.
