Show Parenthood Course Begins Jan. 26 By LaRue Morris FTA Publicity Director As a result of a follow-up planning plan-ning meeting hefd by PTA officials, of-ficials, a night was decided upon to begin the Important course, "Parenthood in a Free Nation." This course is sponsored by the P-TA and Coordinating Council and has been Introduced and developed with a grant, established estab-lished by the Ford Foundation. Letters have gone out to school patrons, sent by the PTA Units in the city, and the first organizational organ-izational meeting will be held Thursday, Jan. 26 at 8:00 p.m. AU the Units will hold their meeting at this time; however, each one will meet in Its own individual school library. The Jr. High and High School will meet Jointly In the high school library. All interes'ted people are strongly strong-ly urged to attend this very Important Im-portant meeting, with emphasis going to couples, newcomers to our city, and all those who wish to gain information on the following fol-lowing basic topics dealing with parenthood: "Feelings of Security Secur-ity and Adequacy," "Understanding "Understand-ing of Self and Others," "Democratic "Dem-ocratic Values and Goals," "Problem "Prob-lem Solving Attitudes' and Methods," Meth-ods," "Self-Discipline, Responsibility Respon-sibility and Freedom," and "A Constructive Attitude Toward Change." The following excellent leaders have been trained to give these courses In' the four units: Thomas Thom-as J. Abplanalp, Mrs. Karl Gardner, Gard-ner, Willis Wynn. LaMont Beat-ty, Beat-ty, Mrs. Paul Stokes. Mrs. Theron Ashcroft, Vern Kupfer, Jean Pug-mire, Pug-mire, Paul Felt and Fae Dlx. Mrs. R. W. Farnsworth and Mrs. D. G. Cowan, PTA Council president and adult education chairman, respectively, have been instrumental in making this course possible along with the school principals. Also assisting are the Unit presidents and adult education chairmen, who are: Mrs. Hazen Cooley and Mrs. Bill Dover from the high school; Mrs. Hunter Grlmshaw and Mrs. J. Henry Grlmshaw from the Jr. High School; Mrs. Evan Dobson and Mrs. Delworth Stout from the West Elementary; Mrs. Millard Nelson and Mrs. Vergene Sim-kins Sim-kins from the East Elementary: and Mrs. Harry Hair and Mrs. Joe Atkin from the North Elementary. |
