Show Colo. River Storage Project Power Tentatively Allotted to Iron County Washington A total tentative tenta-tive allotment of power from the Colorado River Storage Project has been awarded Iron County, according to an announcement this week by Senator Frank E. Moss (D-Utah). A total of 7,940 kilowatts, for summer use and 9,160 for winter use the full load for which applications from Iron County received, were tentatively approved, the Senator stated. Cedar Citv allotment was the major portion-of the Iron County applications, a total of 7,800 kilowatts for summer use and 8,000 for winter use was tentatively tenta-tively approved. Parowan City applied for 40 kilowatts for summer sum-mer use and 450 for winter use. In Paragonah the allotment was 100 kilowatts for summer and 110 for winter use. The division of the market year into summer and winter was ei'fected to best utilize the difference in requirements of the Norm and boutn divisions ot tne CRSP power marketing area, Commissioner Floyd E. Dominy stated. The allotees will have to make comments on their allotments before Commissioner Dominy makes recommendations to Secretary Sec-retary of the Interior Udall for final allocations. First power production Is expected ex-pected in September of this year, Moss said, and the first block of project power will come from the initial generating unit at Flaming Gorge Dam. First deliveries of txwer will be continuously stepped up to the full amounts as succsslve generators at various power p.'ants go into operation between now and 19G5. According to the formula in Secretary Udall's marketing I criteria, the Nothern division in- j eluding the states of Utah, Colo- rado, Wyoming, and New Mexl-, co, will receive the bulk of the power. The Southern division in-! eluding Arizma. iNevaoa and California will have a permanent allotment of 20 per cent of storage stor-age protect summer cnnbillty and seven per cent of winter. |
