Show Servicemen's Church Efforts Heralded By Army Newspaper Editor's Note: Following story Is taken from the European Stars and Stripes concerning an Iron County you'h. PRACTICING MINISTER FOLLOWS WORK IN 76th "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" Everyone Every-one recognizes 'he Golden Rule, but unfortuiately, not enough people live by it. Such is r.ot the case of Pfc. Ken William Es-plln Es-plln of Headquarters and Service Company, 7th Tank Battalion in Munich Born and raised amid the fresh country air of the cat'le ranches ;ln Utah where he resides with his parents near Cedar City. rfc. Esplin became Impressed with the Idea of a good, sound religious relig-ious background going hand in hand with the making of good citizens of tomorrow. Therefore, with a desire to insMH these be- 'llefs in others for the benefit of mankind, he was called to be a Missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints in the fall of 1953. WELL EXPERIENCED fcspiin entered his fiisi f'iC'cl of labor in Jamestown, North Dako'a and then he was transferred trans-ferred to Emo, Ontario, Canada, where he worked with Chippewa Indians on a small Isola'ed rs. "rvation. He also worked wi'h many people In South Dakota and Minnesota as well. While in Germanl, Pfc. Espl In 's continuing his church work during his off duty time as supervisor sup-ervisor of missionary activities among the servicemen In 'he Munich area and Sunday School 'u!enintondency. Pofore entering 'he service, he a'tended College Southern Utah for two years 'n Cedar Citv and Is presently a finance clerk in the 76th Tank Battalion's personnel office. Ken's father and mo'her reside re-side in Kanarraville and are members of the Kanarraville Ward. |
