Show PARAGON AH NEWS NOTES By Hilma Lamoteaux Christmas Eve was celebrated in the usual manner in Para-gonah Para-gonah with the chapel crowded with townspeople and visitors from far and near to hear the program given by th.i Primary children and to see Santa Claus. Saturday evening the Ward Building Commirte sponsored a dance in the school auditorium which was well attended and greatly enjoyed by those who par'icipated. Capt. Ruth Dalton and Mrs. Mary Ortner were here from California Cali-fornia from Monday to Thursday visi'lng with the J. L. Dalton family. Mr. and Mrs. Homer Kearns and their two youngsters of At-water, At-water, Calif, arrived on Christmas Christ-mas Eve to be with Rhoda's mother, mo-ther, Mrs. Elva' McBride. After an overnight stay they wen on to Cedar City to visit with Homer's Hom-er's people. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Abbott and three children of Murray arrived ar-rived here Christmas Eve to greet Santa. They spent two days witii Tom's mother, Mrs. Myrtle Ab-j bo't. Mr. and Mrs. Gerry Thornton came from Salt Lake City to snend Chris'mas at the Earli Thornton home. They returned to the city the following day. Kent Talbot was here from the capital city for a five day visit wi'h his folks, the Renford Talbot Tal-bot s. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Dailey were happy to have their sons Larry and Alan with them for Christmas. Alan came from Salt Lake City where he is working and going to school and Larry was on leave from Navy duty. He had returned to Long Beach, to board his ship, the USS Ashta-bula, Ashta-bula, scheduled to leave for Japan Ja-pan on Jan. 6. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Mellor of Orem came to spend Christmas wi'h Anna's family, the Orson Talbots. Mrs. Eve Bell of Panguitch is visiting here with her daughter, Mrs. Iris Jones. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Jones traveled to Salt Lake City to have their holiday with the Mel-vyn Mel-vyn Jones family. Mr. and Mrs. William T Davenport Dav-enport entertained all the available avail-able members of their family at Christmas dinner on Wednesday. Dott and Kay Smith and family came from Parowan, the Jay Da-venports Da-venports came from Summit and Keith and Kathy Skinner arid baby were here from Salt Lake City. The Clark Lamoreaux and Victor Robinson families were al-so al-so present Mr. and Mrs. Wm. T. Davenport's Daven-port's Christmas Joy was increased in-creased by the arrival of a message mes-sage from Clearfield, Utah, telling tell-ing of the birth of a baby daughter daugh-ter to Calvin and Rachel Smith early Christmas morning. Mr. and Mrs. Revere Robinson Robin-son entertained members of the H. B. Robinson family at Christmas Christ-mas dinner on Wednesday. Here from Cedar Ci'y were Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Osborne and daugh. ter Faunette, Mr. and Mrs. Leigh I Wade and family, Mr. and Mrs.j Kenne'h Wade and children, Mr.' and Mrs. Gordon Manzione and daughter Barbara, and Mr. and Mrs. Cluff Jolley and two daugh-1 ters. The Dee White family came1 from Summit and the Clai? D' Robinsons were here from Par- owan. With II. B. and Victor and family present a Jolly time wa3 had by all. I Mr. and Mrs. McLean SImklns and children were Chris'mas visitors vis-itors of Elma's parents, Mr. and Mrs. George A. Topham. Mrs. Larry Robb came from Henderson, Nev., Christmas day for a visit with the Clark Robb family. She plans to be here and in Cedar City until sometime in February. ) Mr. and Mrs. Woodruff Allen, son Dean and daughter Carol, were week end visitors from Pro-vo. Pro-vo. Mr. and Mrs. Errol Lamoreaux Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Robinson and Mr. and Mrs. Bud Bauer traveled to Richfield on Sunday to spend the day with the Clinton Clin-ton Robinson family. Mrs. Emma Edward and her daughter Gladj j, returned home to Paragonah on Saturday after several week's In Cedar City. Dale Smith left for California on Monday with two of his friends from Provo. The little Misses Stephanie and Cynthia Bess, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Bess of Cedar City, were week end guests in Para. nan, visiting wi'h Mrs. Iris Jones and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Wlllard Dalton came from Salt Lake City to spend the week end with Wil-lard's Wil-lard's folks, the J. L. Dalton fain- uy. Mr. and Mrs. Orson Talbot, sons Jim, Ardell and Nell and daughter Judy,' traveled to Salt Lake City on Saturday for a visit with Beth and Justin Fairbanks. Edwin Williamson is in Las Vegas, spending the winter with his son Glenn and family. I Walter Robb left for the northern north-ern part of the state on Dec. 26 , to accompany his son Ward of Cedar City, who was seeking medical aid., Among the holiday vlsi'ors to Paragonah were Mr. and Mrs. Don Rogers and Mr. and Mrs. , Burrus Barton of Cedar City. Mr. and Mrs. Darwin Dailey and their Idaho Friends, Mr. and Mrs. Sandy McAuley, visited here and in Parowan on Saturday. Satur-day. They called on Darwin's father and other family members. Gene and Elaine Benson and I their three little girls are In this vicinity from Oklahoma and have spent some time visiting here with his sister, Mrs. Mary Abbott. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Mosdell of Cedar City were In town Saturday Sat-urday enjoying the company of Thelma's father, Roy McBride, and other family members. Dallen and Doris Williams of Cedar City were Christmas visitors vis-itors to Paragonah where they spent some time with the Roy McBride family. Mr. and Mrs. C-rlyle Mitchell and family and Mr. and Mrs. Mario Stones a 1 son, Bruce, were Christmas ""ve visitors to Paragonah with t!;e D. A. Stones family. On Thursday evening of last week the Junior M-Men won their basketball game in Parowan Paro-wan over the Second Ward Jr-M Jr-M Men. The game was a low scoring affair which ended 18 to 16. On Thursday evening league play begins with Paragonah meeting the Enoch Ward team. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Robinson enjoyed a recent trip to California. Califor-nia. During their absence some of the children were here In Par-agonah Par-agonah with grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Robinson. Young Jimmy Low and brother R. G. of Beaver were week end guests at the home of their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Anderson. Their father, James Low, had been called to Salt Lake City to the bedside of his father, George P. Low. Mr. Low was a resident of Beaver until recently. He died in Salt Lake City. Max Robinson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Robinson, was In Cedar City on Monday to consult a visiting bone specialist about an injured leg, another casually of the ball season. ,Mr. and Mrs. J. Leonard Top-ham Top-ham had their entire family 'o-ge'her 'o-ge'her for dinner on Christmas Day. Harold and Marilyn Brad-shaw Brad-shaw and children came from Adamsville for the occasion and were joined by the Blaine Jones family. The Bradshaws werei back in town Monday to spend! the day. Mrs. Olive Edwards was happy to have her son Bill arrive home Christmas Eve for a week's visit. He was on leave from the Treasure Treas-ure Island Naval Base. Mrs. Pearl McConnell of Cedar City was in town last week for a few days visit with the Ellis Robinsons and Mrs. Mary E. Gurr who was visiting here from Salt Lake City. Mrs. Idella Robinson enter-tained enter-tained the members of her Sun-, day School class at a holiday party on Monday evening, Dec. 30. The party was held at the Robinson home. The Bee Hive Girls of the ward enjoyed an evening of carol singing sing-ing one night last week. At the conclusion of the evening refreshments re-freshments were served at the home of the leader, Mrs. Lila Stones. Mr. and Mrs. Dee Conder and familv of Magna arrived In Paragonah Par-agonah on Dec. 26 and took Mrs. Conder's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Robinson, wi'h them for a three-day visit in Kanab with the Boyd Robinson family. Mr. and Mrs. Farrel Robb and Miss Deanna Robb came down from Salt Lake City for the week end, Farrel returned to his work leaving the girls here for a few more days before he returns for them. Word came to relatives here last week of the death of Mrs. Dorothy Reese Williams of Bea- I ver, who died at her home Thurs. 'day at the age of 96. She was I Beaver County's oldest resident. Her sis'er. Mrs. Mary Ann Reese, 94, has lived in Paragonah for the past several years. On Monday, relatives here traveled to Beaver to attend the funeral services. Those who made the trip were Mrs. Reese. Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Dalton, Mrs. 1 Al'a Dalton. Mrs. Emma Dalton, Mrs. Lila Stones, Mrs. Sarah R. , Stones and Mrs. Lula R. Bastlan. Edward Lister and sons Boyd and James were here last week Ifrom Palmdale, Calif for a visit .with Edgar's mother, Mr. May Lister, and his brother,' Jesse. Mr. and Mrs. Austin Barton are proud grandparen's again since the arrival of daughter to first-time first-time parents, Roy and Kathleen Orton. Little Lawana put In an anpearanee at a Salt Lake hospital hos-pital on Dec. 10. Paternal grandfather grand-father is Oscar Ortcn of Parowan. Lynn Barton, son cf Mr. and Mrs. Austin Barton, has re-enlist-ed in the Navy and is scheduled to report at San Francisco on Jan. 20. Mr. and Mrs. J. Lowe Barton, their son J. Lowe, Jr., and Ama-sa Ama-sa Stones traveled to Panguitch on Monday to attend the funeral services for their relative, Jimmy Jim-my Barton, who was found dead at his sheep camp near Fredonia, Ariz, last Friday. His wife made the discovery and death was attributed at-tributed to a hear' attack. Homer and Leah Jean Board-man Board-man left for California Monday to see the "Tournament of Roses" and to spend New Year's with relatives. They were accompan-led accompan-led by nephews, Curt and Charles Boardman. |
