Show Elks Lodge Extends Aid to Needy Families I5POE Lodge No. 1556 of Cedar City again this Chris mas season sea-son carried out an ex'ensive program pro-gram of assistance to needy fam-ilis fam-ilis and children in the southern Utah area, according to J. V. Adams, chairman of the Lodge's Charity committee. Approximately 65 families in Cedar City, Enterprise, Calieme, and Panaca, Nev., Kanarraville, Parowan, Summit and Enoch, received re-ceived Christmas parcels con taining foodstuffs, clo'hlng, toys and other articles of need. In addition gifts to the residents resi-dents of the County Rest Home In Parowan, were distributed by the Elks, Adams said. A show for the children of the area was staged on the Satur-i Satur-i day preceding Chris'mas and Santa was on hand to distribute distrib-ute stockings of candy to the children at this event. Money to carry on this extensive exten-sive program Is raised through I eon'ributlons of Elks members. 'Adams pointed. Each year the lodge conducts a "charity ball" .early in December with all nro-j nro-j cceds used for this work. This jycar, in addition to the annual I ball, concessions were erected in t'he basement of the lodge hall i with proceeds also turned over to the charity commit'ee. Assisting Adams on the chari'y committee this season were John Oulnn. Douglas Murphy, Frank Milne, Wes McEown, Chester Barrick and Fred Leigh. |
