Show Board Approves Contracts on School Projects Bids for supplying materials for landscaping at the new South Elementary and for curb and gutter south of the high school football field, were let at a meeting of the Iron County School Board Monday. Allen Heaton, contractor, was low bidder on the Installation of the curb and gutter. His bid, which was acceped, was for $2,-972. $2,-972. Only one other bid was received re-ceived on the concrete works, that by weyner construction co. in the amount of $3,423. Barton Floral of Cedar City received the bid for supplies for the South Elementary landscaping. landscap-ing. Barton's bid was for $2,553.-02, $2,553.-02, $612.82 below the only other hid submitted by Green Thumb Nursery in the amount of $3,165.-84. $3,165.-84. Two matters .relative to the Utah State Board of Education were also discussed at the meeting. meet-ing. All members were encouraged encourag-ed to attend a special workshop for school board members to be held at Beaver on May 7. Also consideration was given to the state Board of Education nomination nomin-ation convention for District Five to be held in October. The district dis-trict represents the counties of Iron, Washington, Beaver, Millard Mil-lard and Juab and is presently represented by W. C. Cole of Delt-a. Delt-a. An election to fill Mr. Cole's expired term will . be held this fall and it Is expected that Mr. Cole will be a candidate for reelection. re-election. Authorization was given by the board to conduct a six week's kindergarten summer session at Escalante Valley School on condition con-dition that enough pupils and an Instructor is available. The entire board made a tour of present property holdings of the school district for the purpose pur-pose of determining properties to be sold that can not be used by the district. |
