Show r "rv, "V ' I 1 ' ' " ! ! i V JAY SHAKESPEARE I Community Worker Valued Asset to Cedar City School Among the now staff members at the West Elementary School in Cedar City this year is Jay Shakespeare, 29, custodian. Jay has, in addition to his many responsibilities as custodian, custod-ian, taken on additional activi ties at the school and In the community as well. Born in Tropic, Utah, Nov. 14 1929, he graduated from the Tropic Tro-pic High School and continued his education at the College of Southern Utah, then Branch Ag-rk Ag-rk iltural College in 1918-49. He Is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alton Shakespeare of Tropic. Jay accepted employment with the Utah Parks Company while attending CSU and has until this year, worked In various capacities ca-pacities with that company. Originally he worked sum. mers at Bryce Canyon with the Utah Parks and spent the winter months on the staff at Hotel El Escalante. In addition he has spent a season at Grand Canyon and a winter In Sun Valley, Idaho, Ida-ho, while It was administered by the Utah Parks Company. Jay has become active in civic work particularly with the Junior Chamber of Commerce. In 1957 he was awarded the outstanding Jaycee award for his chairmanship chairman-ship of the annual Polio Drive and the Clean-up Campaign and assisting with the Christmas lighting program. Currently he Is serving as the chairman of the Jaycee Home Lighting contest. He Is a member of the L D S Church. |
