Show Broncos Break Even in Invitational College of Southern Utah Bronco Bron-co basketball team returned from their annual California circuit and participation in the Chaffey Junior College tournament at Ontario, On-tario, Calif, with a two-win and two-loss record. In the four game excursion the Broncos lost to San Diego Junior College by a score of 65 to 74; downed San Diego Naval Sta-I Sta-I tion by a score of 74 to 65, defeated de-feated Citrus Junior College In the opening round of the Chaffey Chaf-fey College tournament by a score of 70 to o3 and were defeated de-feated by Oranje Coast by a score of 81 to 72. The unusual part of the four game series is the fact that Coach Adams' Broncos outscored all four of their opponents from the field, but were outclassed at the foul line, particularly against San Diego and against Orange Coast. The excursion turned up another an-other unusual factor, that is that the Broncos for four games and the four opponents, scored Identical Identi-cal total points at 271. I CSU Broncos outscored San Die.1 go 21 to 17 from the field, but the club hit 28 foul shots In 39 attempts while the Broncos hit 13 out of 20. The Broncos out-scored out-scored San Diego Naval Station 28 to 23 from the field, tanked seven more field goals against Citrus Jaycees, 28 to 21 and beat 1 Orange Coast by a 31 to 28 margin mar-gin from the field. Orange Coast, in eliminating the Broncos from the second round of the Chaffey tournament hit 25 foul shots in 33 attempts. CSU scored only 10 points from the foul line, taking a total of 19 shots. High scorer for the Broncos In the four game series was Joe Castillo, smallest man on the squad. Castillo plckeup up a total to-tal of 47 points In the four games and hit high man In the final two encounters. Against Citrus he hit for 18 points and against Orange Coast he tanked 21 points. Castillo caught fire in the second sec-ond half of the Orange Coast game scoring his 10 field goals, his only score in the first half was a foul attemnt. Behind him was Paul Rasmuss'n with 11 points; Ed McKibhen and Dick Olauh earh totaling 33 points and Tom Bailey. Both squads hit 17 field noals in the final 20 minutes o? play with the foul shooting showing up distinctly dis-tinctly in the half.
