Show Scouts Celebrate Birthday Feb. 27 a large group of parents par-ents and friends joined the Escalante Es-calante Valley Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts In celebrating ihe birthday of the Scouting movement move-ment in the United States. Called the "Carnival of Colors" the annual an-nual affair featured a pot luck supper highlighted by elaborate table decorations made by the Cub Scoots, their parents, and Den Mothers. They followed a "Mardl Gras" theme and Included Includ-ed clever miniature parade floats, and folk lore characters made from dried apples. During the evening a number of special awards were made. Scoutmaster Joe DclVecchio presented pre-sented tenderfoot badges to Glen Nielsen and Tony Bosshardt, and second class badges to Rocky Tucker, David Piper, Terry Ped-erson, Ped-erson, John and Wayne Robinson Robin-son and Steven Applegate. Cubmaster Bryner Wood presented pre-sented his Webelos badge to Cub Scout Lee Scott. He also presented pre-sented a Bobcat pin to Eddie Gardner, and registration papers to Veldcn Sorensen, and welcomed wel-comed the two boys into the Cub Scouts. Mrs. Corlnne Applegate of Newcastle was officially sworn in as a Cub Scout Den Mother by Senior Den Mother Frances Piper Pi-per of Den 2. Den 2 also was awarded the honor flag for parent par-ent participation, having 10Q of the boys' parents in attendance attend-ance at the meeting. I A very fine demonstration in first aid, prepared under the di rection of assistant Scoutmaster George Jolley, who was unable to attend owing to Illness, was presented by the Ey Scouts. A special guest for th evening eve-ning was field scout representative representa-tive Joseph Barney of Cedar City. |
