Show CEDAR CITY SOCIAL SWING Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Heyborne and family spent the week end visiting with relatives in Order-vllle. Order-vllle. Thursday evening was Beta Sigma Phi night for chapter members. The Omega chapter members were entertained by Mrs. Wendell Brooksby at the public library club rooms. Mrs. Richard T. Brown, program chairman chair-man for the evening introduced her guest, Mrs. Darwin Nelson who presented a very interesting evening on "The Garden." Mrs Nelson g.w? the young homo makers ideas on appropria.-planting appropria.-planting for this area and suggested sug-gested ways of enhancing their gardens. Many of the ideas were illustrated through beautiful pictures. pic-tures. Light refreshments were served by Joan Middleton and Jean Carmony. The exemplar XI Omega chapter chap-ter also met Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Claron Brad-shaw. Brad-shaw. In charge of the program was Mrs. Carl Croft who presented present-ed a short discussion on clothing and current styles and good groaning. Mrs. Croft then Intro-duood Intro-duood her guest. Miss Brenda Williams, who demonstrated the proper care of the hair and one of the latest in hair styles. Also demonstrated were care of skin and fingernails. The program was one found very Interesting to all present. Refreshments served by Jerry Bulloch and Shirley Shir-ley Haycock were enjoyed as the ladies visited. On Friday afternoon, th ladies of the M.B.W. Club met at the home of Mrs. John Brown for a pleasant afternoon together. Mrs. Farrell A. Quarnberg was introduced intro-duced by program chairman, Mrs. Hyrum Perry. During the afternoon, af-ternoon, the ladles enjoyed seeing see-ing slides of Germany, many of which were of the Berlin area, and hearing of the experiences of Sirs. Quarnberg as h? and her husband traveled during his service ser-vice with the U. S. Army in Germany. Ger-many. Mrs. Quarnberg proved further her ability as an entertainer enter-tainer as she played her guitar and sang several numbers. A delicious de-licious luncheon was served by the hostess as the ladies socialized. social-ized. Officers and teachers and their partners of the Fifth Ward Mutual Mu-tual Association met Monday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Don Draper for a social evening. Honored Hon-ored at the pot luck supper were members of the organization recently re-cently released from their responsibilities. re-sponsibilities. A very pleasant evening was enjoyed by all. On Thursday of last week, President Mildred Thompson and her offices of the Ladies of Elks entertained state Ladies of Elks president, Viola Schow and her officers at a steak dinner at Milt's Stake Stop. Also present at the special dinner were members of the St. George lodge officers. Following a pleasant dinner hour, the ladies Joined lodge members at the Lodge hall where their monthly business meeting l was held. An outstanding meeting meet-ing with the state officers was .enjoyed. I A two-week visit in Cedar City 'ended by Mrs. McNeil Mathews land two daughters as they returned re-turned to their Norwalk, Calif., i home on Sunday. Mr. Mathews 'motored to Cedar City on Friday Fri-day for a short visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Mathews, and to Join his family for the return home. Little Patricia Pa-tricia Mathews made her debut j among her many relatives as she enjoyed the two week3 with her mother and sister. President Mildred Thompson of the Ladies of Elks announces that a special meeting will be held at the lodge hall on Thursday Thurs-day at 8 p. m. All Ladies of Elks are Invited to be in attendance. This evening will be held in the form of a nomination meeting for new officers. |
