Show HELD AT LOGAN County 4-H Workers Attend School Two Iron County 4-H leaders, i Mildred Maxwell and Maurine Grimshaw, both from Enoch, andi Mabel Merrell, Iron County home, agent, have just returned from a vook long 4-H Leadership School .vhich Is held annually by the Utah Extension Service in Logan, Utah. The purpose of this school is to give practical helps in project work as well as inspiration to those who attend. Each of the leaders registered In different phases In order to bring back as much Information as possible to the leaders In Iron County. Mrs. Maxwell made several samples sam-ples of the articles which are Included in the Home Improvement Improve-ment phases. She Is now prepared prepar-ed to give help and instructions to the leaders who will be teaching teach-ing home Improvement this summer. sum-mer. Mrs. Grimshaw was enrolled in the first phase clothing project. This phase is designed to start beginning sewers out on the use of the sewing machine by re quiring the members to make simple articles of clothing. As i part of her training, Mrs. Grim- , shaw made samples of all the sewing techniques which she will teach this summer to drier 4-H club leaders as well us to her own group of girls. Mabel MerreU served in the foods section plong with four other home agents, assisting the Extension Food Specialist, Elna Miller, with a series of demonstrations demon-strations giving leaders techniques tech-niques to use in teaching their food projects. Besides spending 24 days in project work, the leaders attended attend-ed the general sessions to hear some excellent talks by outstanding outstand-ing leaders in public affairs and in 4-H work. Plans are now being made for a leader training program in Iron County with the help of Mrs. Grimshaw and Mrs. Maxwell and other leaders assisting. In this way the information gained will be passed on to other leaders who will be working on the 4-H Club program this coming summer. |
