Show Postal Officials from Throughout the Stats Honor Rulon S. Wood Upon His Retirement Rulon Wood, who retired as Cedar City Postmaster on April 15, was honored recently by the Utah National Association of Postmasters. A reception and banquet in his honor was held and approximately approximate-ly 90 officials of jHjstoffice departments de-partments throughout the state were in attendance at tiie evei'it. The District Committee of Southern Utah National Association Associa-tion of Postmaters with LaVar Hlnton, Hurricane postmaster, as chairman, and Clark Blake, St. George postmaster and Howard Knight, Parowan postmaster, committee members, assisted by assistant postmaster Clyde HiK-bee HiK-bee of Cedar City, were in charge of the event. Utah Postmasters from many areas were present to wish Postmaster Post-master Wood a pleasant retirement retire-ment from the postal service. Included In-cluded in those who attended were Ed Wndell, state president presi-dent of Ogden and C. Henry Neilson of Brigham City, another of the state organization officers. Weather conditions prevented many from attending, it is understood. un-derstood. Master of ceremonies for the occasion was Clark Blake of St George and Howard Knight was program chairman. Frank Duncan, Dun-can, postal service officer representing repre-senting the Denver Kegion was guest speaker and presented Wood with an honorary 40 year ! certificate from Postmaster General Gen-eral Jonn A. Gronouskl. He also presented the retiring pitina iter it-er a letter from C. G. Crossun, regional manager, complimenting compliment-ing Wood on having served faithfu'ly and efficiently for 40 years in the Cedar City office. Members of Wood's family were all present with the exception excep-tion of Jane Nunley, his oldest daughter, who lives in San Antonio, An-tonio, Texas. A daughter, Ada Marie Hooper, told some interesting experiences of her father in the postal ser-1 vice and Rulon Kent, his oldest son, a USU faculty member played a trombone solo accom-pained accom-pained by his wife, Joyce. Stephen Step-hen a junior at USU, also attend-1 ed along with Rose Bonzo, a ' daughter, and her two sons, John and James. Wood and his wife, Zona, made short remarks during the evening in which he thanked the Cedar City Post office employees I for the fine attache case they I presented him. He thanked all attending at-tending stating he was greatly honored at this banquet. "It is one of the greatest experiences 'of my life," he said. I - |
