Show New Student Body Officers, Award Recipients Announced at Assembly New sti'dent boJy officers for 1965-66 were announced at College Col-lege of Southern Utah at ceremonies cere-monies climaxing ttie annual Awards and Inauguration Assembly. Assem-bly. Stan Sorerisen, Ordervllle, will assume duties as student body president. Steve Stef. fenson, Murray, is the new vice president for financial affairs. Pam Petty, Cedar City, was nam ed student body secretary. President of Associated Men Students Is Stee Heaton, Kanab. Associated Women Students will be led by Margaret Krebbs, Murray. Mur-ray. New cheerleaders are Connie Rogers, Long Beach, Calif.; Karen Kar-en Bybee, Las Vejas, Nev.; Janice Ja-nice Brown, Grantsville; Kathy Madsen, Provo, arid Susan Resler, Boulder City, Nev. At the awards ceremonies, special spe-cial tribute was paid to Dr. Roy-den Roy-den C Braithwaite, director of College of Southern Utah, for his service to the Institution during the past year. Jim Marshall, Provo, Pro-vo, outgoing CSU student body president, announced that redwood red-wood bench will be placed on the campus In honor of Dr. Uialth-waite. Uialth-waite. A plaque will bo affixed to the bench denoting some of his achievements. Dr. Braithwaite presented a , ; special souvenir pen to Mr. Mar shall to be placed In the oollcgc archives. The pen was used by Utah Governor Calvin Rampon to sign Into law the bill passed by the State Legislature which grandted independent status for CSU. Recipients of Thunderblrd Awards were Stan Sorensen, outstanding out-standing contribution by a boy; Alary Ann Palmer, Cedar City, outstanding contribution by a girl; Jim Marshall, achievement of the year; Marilyn M. Fother-ingham, Fother-ingham, Cedar City, scholar of the year. Joe Ward, Cedar City, out standing freshman; M.ry Jane Williams, Cedar City, outstanding outstand-ing sophomore; Nelson Williams, Richfield, outstanding Junior; Kathryn Seaman, Elko, Nev., outstanding out-standing senior. Awards for athletic accomplish accomp-lish went to Tom Itabb, Bingham, football; John Johnson, Copper-ton, Copper-ton, basketball, and Son Sudbury, Sud-bury, Magna, Baseball. Walter Price, Bountiful, was named best actor oi tne year. Doni Chrlstenscn, American Fork, won the title of best actress of the year. Ilene Harmon, St. George, was presented with the outstanding Journalist award. Phi Alpha Beta sorority won the award for the best competitive competi-tive assembly. Lambda Delta Slgmn was chosen by the CSr Executive Council as the organ! zation which has contributed the most to the college during the past year. Jay Monscn, Cedar City radio executive, was master of ceremonies cere-monies for the assembly.
