Show Talented 4-H'ers Earn Honors ! For Best Projects The dream of almost every 4-H Club member-a trip to a . National 4-H Club Congress-came Congress-came true for two Utah youths who are recalling the exciting time they had at the 42nd National Na-tional 4 II Club Congress. jr. fJI Wfly Andtnon Robert Wadley, 16, of Provi-' Provi-' dence, and Kent Anderson, 17, of Tremonton, attrbded a special spe-cial 4-H pop concert in Chicago's Chica-go's Orchestra Hall, conducted by Arthur Fiedler, and featuring featur-ing two 4-H soloists. They also found time for sight-seeing with a stop at the Museum cf Natural History. Wadley, the entomology winner, win-ner, has a collection of 450 insects in-sects that he displays in five glass-covered cases. He has raised cockroaches, milkweed bugs and bean beetles under controlled conditions to study them. Hercules Powder Company sponsored his trip. He is tho son of Mr. and Mm Rrva w Wadley. Wadley, whose mother is a 4-H leader, was a member of one of the two top crops Judging Judg-ing teams in Utah last year. Anderson, the state poultry winner, was the guest of Heis-dorf Heis-dorf & Nelson Farms, Inc. He Is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Anderson. His father operates op-erates a turkey farm, to this 4-H'er entered the turkey project proj-ect Misfortune struck twice. Fourteen Four-teen of his 39 turkeys were killed by dogs one year. Sixteen Six-teen out of 50 in another batch died when heat lamps went off one cold night. Anderson fought back and exhibited ex-hibited three first place turkeys in Box Elder County competition competi-tion this year. In 1959 he exhibited ex-hibited the grand champion steer at the county fair. |
