Show KSUB Manager Shows Slides Of Civil Defense Shot Art Higbee, manager of Radio Station KSUB, was the featured speaker at the regular noon luncheon of the Lions Club Monday. Mon-day. A participant at the Atomic Energy Commission and the Civil Defense open shot at the Nevada Testing grounds recently, Higbee discussed the tests and showed slides of pictures taken before and after the public shot. As a witness of the Civil Defense De-fense village set up prior to the explosion Higbee showed pictures pic-tures of the buildings, cars, utility util-ity poles and other "city" paraphernalia para-phernalia Involved In the tests. Although not on hand for the many times delayed shot, Higbee again toured the CD city, to wit-ness wit-ness the destruction by the high powered atomic explosion. Again he showed slides of the CD evac-ution evac-ution and the effect of the explosion ex-plosion at the test site. He explained that CD workers treated the mannequins as though they were actual persons. Those considered to have died in the test were covered with a white sheet while others that were injured were evacuated In the simulated test, he continued. Pictures obtained showing the actual blast were also shown. |
