Show Softball League Entering Three Vay Race TEAM STANDINGS Columbia 2 0 1.000 Record , 2 1 .667 Utah Const 1 1 .500 Sixth Ward 0.3 .000 Action in the Cedar City Softball Soft-ball Association league got fully under way this past week and Columbia Iron Mines, with only one game In the three-night a week schedule, remained on top with two wins and no losses. Friday evening action at the park got hot and heavy with the Iron County Record edging out Utah Construction by a score of 4 to 3 in the tightest ball game to date. Rulon Woodbury on the mound for the Record team came through-with -a victory after his teammates had pounded in four runs in the bdttom half of the first inning of play. Utah Construction Con-struction scored one run In' the top of the first and the Record took the lead at 4 to 1 after the first Inning. Keith Staheli, chucking chuck-ing excellent ball for UC settled down after the fateful first inning, in-ning, not allowing another Record Rec-ord man to score. UC was held scoreless through the second, third, frnirth and fifth innings, but pushed over a run in the sixth and one in the seventh for a final tabulation of three runs. Lopsided Win Columbia's only game this week produced a victory, 16 to 1. at the hands of the Sixth Ward. Wednesday evening the Record was credled with its second win against the Sixth Ward, when that group failed to field a com plete team. Uresent Indications are that the league might well dwindle down to three teams. However, the three Columbia, UC and the Record are almost evenly even-ly matched. Friday night the feature attraction attrac-tion of the week will pit Columbia Colum-bia and Utah Construction against each other in what promises prom-ises to be a close battle. The eame will also mark the end of the first quarter of play. The second quarter schedule, according to Max Cowan, secretary, secre-tary, is as follows: Mndav. June 27, Utah Const, vs. Sixth Ward.
