'"s- j ' ' L - - - - 1 I ' II LEO CAHOON f Leo Cahoon, manager of Stev-ens Stev-ens and Company store and ac- tive member of the Cedar City Chamber of Commerce for the past several years, was elected president of the organization for 1952 at th? recent election of officers conducted by mail. He succeeds Lyman E. Sevy, live-stockman, live-stockman, who has served during the past year. The election was conducted by mail during the latter part of December, and results were announced an-nounced at the annual organization organiza-tion banquet New Year's Eve. Myron F. Higbee, livestockman and former mayor of Cedar City, was named vice president to succeed suc-ceed John M. Brown, livestock dealer. The number of officers elected to serve the Chamber of Commerce Com-merce during 1952 was doubled over previous years, in keeDini? with a plan adopted to widen the scop! of representation on the Chamber board. The board was expanded to include repre. sentatives from each of the civic ci-vic organizations In the commu-nity, commu-nity, and from business, labor, industry, schools, agriculture and I livestock. In addition to the president pres-ident and vice president, five di-rectors di-rectors were elected for terms of two years, four for terms of one year, and two hold-overs will serve for another year. , Holdover directors are Arthur Higbee, representing the Lions club, .and G. D. MacDonald, representing rep-resenting industry. Elected as directors for terms of two years were Mrs. Leta Cow-ley, Cow-ley, representing the BPW club; . Ralph Thomas, representing business; bus-iness; Kenneth Imlay, representing represent-ing the Elks; Richard Morris, rep-resenting rep-resenting the Klwanis club, 'and Carroll Brown, representing labor. Elected for one-year terms were an agricultural and livestock representative, F. L. Biederman; Rotary club, Charles R. Hunter; schools, Miss Bee Roberts, and veterans, Milton Sevy. '"' The annual New Year's Eve banquet and dance, the only ma-jor ma-jor social function of the organization, organi-zation, climaxed the year's ac- tivlties of the civic groups. Gordon Gor-don Christensen acted as master ' of ceremonies. Edwin L. Peterson, head of the social science department depart-ment of the Branch Agricultural college, was the principal speaker speak-er at the banquet, and the report re-port of the year's activities was given by Arthur Higbee, di-rector. di-rector. Mr. Peterson praised the retir-ing retir-ing officers for their service during dur-ing the year, and for widening the scope of representation on the board.
