Show Kanarraville Lashed Ey Sudden Devastating Storm A wind and electrical storm swept through Kanarraville Monday about 3:15 p. m. leaving in it path destruction and debris. Whipping power lines w-ere broken brok-en in several places but by prompt action of the Southern Utah Power Co. electrical power service was restored within a short time following the storm. A ball of fire rolled along utility lines for some distance on Main street, many large trees were uprooted and large limbs were strewn along the streets throughout the town. Accompan-ing Accompan-ing the winds was a violent rain storm that added to one of the worst storms to hit the small community in recallable history. Two large plate glass windows at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Har-land Har-land Durrand were blown out by the storm that was apparently centrally located within the town with little damage reported from even the small farms adjacent to Kanarraville. Keith Pollock narrowly escaped injury during the storm. He was raking hay on the farm of Glade Berry, when his horse became frightened and bolted, throwing Pollock off and badly damaging the rake. However, residents expressed ex-pressed their good fortune in that there was no more serious damage dam-age reported, either to persons, crons or rnmmunitv uarripns. The storm apparently hit the town with no warning and lasted for only a short period of time. Old timers, however, could not recall a more violent storm in the vicinity at any time As one resident expressed it "It was a real twister while it last-ed." |
