Show I Devine Succumbs Following Illness I 1 Last rites were conducted for Charles Emerson Divine, 6S, at Burley, Idaho, on July 30. Mr. Divine, Di-vine, who was a resident of Cedar City, died at the Cottage hospital hospi-tal in Burley, Juno 26, after a prolonged illness. Mr. Divine was a retired section sec-tion foreman for the Union Pacific Paci-fic railroad, with more than 30 years of service. Ho was born at Maple Grove, Neb., Feb. 14, 1885. the son of Charles A. and Orra IE. Divine. He was married to ! Pearl Amy Simmons of O'Neil, 1 Neb., Aug. 1. 1907. During his early married life he was engaged engag-ed in farming in Nebraska. He i began working for the railroad I in 19-0. While in the employ-Iment employ-Iment of the railroad he and his family had resided in Caliente, Nov., Greenwoixl and Tooele, Utah. He moved to Iron Springs, Utah in April, 1934 where he had resided until his retirement in Oct. 1951. The family then moved to Cedar City whore they have since made their home. At the time of his last illness he and Mrs. Divine were visiting at the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Marcellus Webster. He is survived by Mrs. Divine, two sons, three daughters and 13 grandchildren. They are: Leonard Leon-ard A., Oakley, Idaho; Emmett, Logan; Etta Divine, Farmington. N. M.; Mrs. Ormy Allen, American Ameri-can Falls, Idaho, and Mrs. Mar tha Webster, Oakley, Idaho. He has three brothers and two sisters: sis-ters: William A. Divine, San Francisco, Calif.; Claude L. Divine, Di-vine, Bell, Calif.; James C. Divine, Di-vine, North Bend, Neb.; Hazel A. Meyer Topeka, Kan., and Myrtle O. Stipe, Wichita, Kan. Funeral services were conducted conduct-ed by Bishop J. Harry Barring- ton of Declo. The speaker at the services was John A. Clark ot Oakley, Idaho. The invocation was by George Critchfield of Oakley and the benediction was given by Earl Allen of American Falls. The dedicatory was given by George Critchfield. Special music at the service was: prelude by Welton, Allen; solo, "Lay My Head Beneath a Rose", by Martell Christensen; a duet "Beyond the Sunset", by Julia and Lucille Darrington, and a vocal solo, "That Silver Haired Daddy of Mine", by Alton Mar-tindale, Mar-tindale, accompanied by Alene Martindale. Burial was in Declo cemetery, Declo, Idaho. 1 |
