Show Cedar City to Honor National Parks Service Officers at Luncheon Monday National Parks Director Conrad Con-rad L. Wirth, who will visit the national parks of this area for 'the first time since his appointment appoint-ment to his present position, will be honored at a luncheon in Cedar Ce-dar City Monday noon, accord-1 ing to Leo Cahoon, president of the Cedar City Chamber of Commerce. Com-merce. Honored with Director Wirth, will be Ronald F. Lee, assistant director of the parks service, l who will accompany the director on his tour of the area, and Regional Re-gional Director M. R. Tillotson of Region Three, from Santa Fe, .New Mexico. ' The meeting will be held at El Escalante hotel Monday noon, the usual meeting time of the Lions club. All of the local civic clubs, including the Lions, Ro-i Ro-i tary, Kiwanis, Junior Chamber of Commerce, and Chamber of Commerce Com-merce will join together to honor Mr. Wirth and his group, and to hear a talk by the national parks director. I Attendance is not restricted to members of these club. Rather every individual interested in attending at-tending and hearing Mr. Wirth, is invited to be present. Tickets are available for the luncheon and it would be adviseable for anyone interested in the affair to make reservations as early as possible. Tickets may be obtained ob-tained from club leaders, or by calling at the Chamber of Commerce Com-merce office in the Bank of Southern Utah building. Announcement has been made by Paul R. Franke, superintendent superintend-ent of Zion and Bryce National parks, and Cedar Breaks National Nation-al monument, that the national official will visit the areas on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, July 20, 21 and 22, and will leave for Flagstaff, Ariz, on July 22. They will visit Bryce National Park on the first of the three days, and then travel to the Breaks and Cedar City , on July 21, and stop at Zion National park on the final day of their visit.. The trip has been planned mainly for the purpose of getting get-ting acquainted with the areas, visitor use problems, and to meet some of the community leaders in the surrounding towns. In addition to talks by the visiting officials the program will include excellent musical numbers. More than 300 local residents are exptected to attend at-tend the meeting Monday. |
