No student or organization was rated by the Judges this year, but rather each was given constructive criticism upon tin- v-oik dune al the festival, as ; lii.ans of improving improv-ing the work oi each in Uie year of study before another such festival fes-tival is held. Following the festival tin; criticisms of the Judges we.-e mailed to the inu.de leaders In each school lor their use in training- the students. Judges were Clair Johnson of Ogden, Og-den, Floyd Fletcher and George H. Durham of Salt Lake City, and William II. Manning and Roy L. Halversen of Cedar City. All students participating in the festival were served a box lunch at noon by the Cedar City band parents association, who had received receiv-ed financial help from the various civic groups of Cedar City. Music leaders, principals and supcrlnten- dents of nil schools participating were luncheon guests of the Brancn Agricultural College. The band parade and maneuvering, maneuver-ing, the most picturesque feature of the Festival, was marred to some extent by the sudden rain storm, but all the bands but two braved the storm to perform on Main Street and thrill the many spectators spec-tators gathered for the occasion. Cedar City people were thrilled with the quality of performance of the students from the Cedar Junior and senior high schools, every Individual In-dividual and group giving performances perform-ances proving the excellence of the training they are receiving. The soloists, ensembles, the bands, in their playing and maneuvering, the orchestra and the choruses earned the praise of all who heard them. Many visitors claimed that the highlight high-light of the day was the performance perform-ance by the Cedar City orchestra, and the work of the band and choruses chor-uses was almost the equal of the orchestra, Cedar City was represented in the festival by the Junior high school band, playing and marching; the high school band, playing and marching; mar-ching; Junior high and high school choruses, the high school orchestra, four instrumental soloists, and n number of vocal soloists and ensembles. |
