Show Cedar City Art Exhibit Attracts Many Visitors The Third Annual Cedar City Art Exhibit ojiened In the high school gymnasium Sunday afternoon after-noon with a large crowd attending the opening program which featured featur-ed a lecture on "The Formative Influences In-fluences of Art," by Miss Verla Blrrell of the Brigham Young University Uni-versity Art Department. Miss Birrell, one of the most widely recognized artists of Utah, game a most interesting discussion of art influences, pointing out the various types of art displayed at the exhibit and explaining the trends of culture expressed in each type. The program also featured several numbers by a Ladles Double Trio under the direction of Mrs. Lehl M. Jones. A second program will be given giv-en next Sunday at 4:30 p.m. with Elzy J. Bird of the Salt Lake Art Center as the guest speaker. In addition the program will feature several dunce numbers from the Branch Agricultural College dance review, and numbers by a Ladies Trio. lanthus Wright, general chairman chair-man in charge of the Art Exhibit states that he is very pleased with the response of the people to the .show, pointing out that many people peo-ple are availing themselves of the opportunity to view the exhibit und btudy the paintings. The exhibit includes in-cludes h!o paintings exhibited by leading artists of the western states. The exhibit will be open Sunday, May 3, and Sunday May 10, from 2 00 to 10.00 pni., on Monday and Tuesday, May 4 und 5, from 3.00 t C 00 p.m. and from 7:00 to 10:00 ;i -in. on all other days before the exhibit closes on May 10. Everyone is cordially invited to visit the exhibit ex-hibit us often us they wish and the officials of the Cedar City Coordinating Coordin-ating Council, s;xiusoring organization, organiza-tion, hope that every individual in this vicinity will visit the exhibit at least once. |
