Elwood Manwaring, County Supervisor for the Farm Security Administration, said today hU office of-fice would make libout 25 food production loans In Iron County this year. "Just before its Christmas recess re-cess Congress voted FSA an additional ad-ditional $7,500,000 In loan funds," Manwaring said, "Iron County's share of this will be between $7,300 and $10,000, or enough to make 8 more loans than had been planned." Manwaring said the Administration Administr-ation had recommended that FSA's loaning authority be Increased by $37,500,000 or enough to make about 55 to 60 additional loans In the county, "Last year our loan funds were exhausted by April," Manwaring said. "This year we will probably run out of money before that time. Loan applications are coming in at an unprecedented rate and there is everv reason In hello vp thnt Via farmers we serve intend to make larger food production lncreasess than ever before. Last year the borrowers set themselves a record. This year they hope to beat that record by a big margin." Manwaring said he was certain FSA would not have sufficient funds to meet the demands for loans In Iron County. "Even with the $7,500,000 recently voted," Manwaring said, "Our total loan authority for this year Is almost al-most one-third less than lt was last year, but we will make the best possible use of the funds." Farmers are requested to put In their requests for loans early so as many may be served as possible while the funds are available.
