Of this group, 21,000,000 or 32 per cent earn $865 or less annually after af-ter taxes. The persons in this great mass of our population cannot stand the least inflation. For them, higher prices rnean that their children will have t go without vital foods as well at Mo'$ and other clothing. Only about one third of the nation's na-tion's total supply of gasoline will j be available for passenger car drivers driv-ers in 1944, according to Chester ,Bowles, OPA Administrator. The other two-thirds will be going to war into the big offensives, which we hoi will end this year in total defeat of our enemies. Housewives, who wish to ran early fruit, may now obtain five pounds of sugar from their retailers retail-ers by using sugar stamp No. 40 in War Ration Book Four. This stamp valid until February 28, 1945 will be the only stamp used for buying canning sugar. Additional amounts will be available on application ap-plication to local boards. Last year, two five-pound sugar stamps were validated by OPA for home canning. Limited quantities of men's rubber rub-ber boots and rubber work shoes may be sold ration-free by retailers retail-ers announces OPA.
